Uncle's bday

Today's my paternal uncle's (one of my fav) bday. Following the family tradition, I got him a big duck drumstick. Nicely-roasted and glistening, it emitted a saliva-inducing aroma that can be smelt hundreds of metres away. It was sold to me for a whooping S$6.50! But everything's worth it when I saw how uncle savoured it, smacking his lips with great satisfaction. =)

Some of us trooped down to this cantonese restaurant "Zi Yean" off Lengkok Bahru for his bday treat. Had Yu Sheng, Stir-Fried Kai Lan, Imperial Herbal Chicken, Fried Ee Mee, and *gasp* Pen(2) Cai(4) - for the un-elightened, Pen(2) Cai(4) is a high-class item, in the same (or even beyond) league as sharksfin and abalone. Perhaps it is in sama sama category as "Buddha Jumps Over The Wall". It is a big bowl of delicacies containing fish maw, dried oysters, moss, abalone, mushrooms, roast meats, chicken, duck, cabbage, dried scallops, fresh scallops, beancurd skin etc etc. This is my first time eating it. Yummy, but I think I prefer Cold Combination Plate or Suckling Pig. This one's too heavy-going. But it's a treat, so I'm not complaining. =P

Pen Cai

Alrights, it's time for plain porridge now. Need a break from all the luxurious, cholesterol-laden food. Too much of a good thing's not so good, I know. And yes yes, it's time to exercise again.. =P
