Today, I boiled soup. First time in 2 yrs since mama's went to the Heavens. 6 mths ago, I cooked rice. Now, another baby step. Not too difficult to boil nutritous, herbal chicken soup. We may just do that once a week from now on, to boost health.
Anyways, this week, there'd be no baking. Simply had to clear some work that had long been put on the backburner. Next week though, the oven will running again. Await the updates.
Yesterday, went with pa to vivo city for dinner. The crowd's thinned down quite visibly from the initial-opening-heights of hundreds of thousands. Yesterday, there was room to saunter around with swinging arms and not hit anyone. Queued at Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant (the only outlet in S'pore) for half hr with a growling stomach. But it was all worth it when my steaming bowl of spicy korean noodles with pork chop arrived. Yummy! And to cool it off, I had an icy honey pomelo drink. Shiok! =) Dad had some cheesy fish fillet baked rice, and a hot almond tea. Not too bad as well. U can give Kim Gary a try next time u hit vivo.
But the "find of the night" occurred while we were strolling around with a rounded stomach - on the top floor, tucked away in a corner next to the connecting rail station to Sentosa, we found this very nice food court!
The deco there is soothingly old-style with a modern touch (no contradiction here), with wooden tables and chairs, and stalls done up like traditional hawker carts. The variety is eye-boggling, with many local and malaysian delights, and even dou(4) jiang(4) you(2) tiao(2)! Hokkien mee is also served wrapped in a semi-coned banana leaf. Toast Box has an outlet within too, so it's really a nice food court to eat at, unlike the other kopitiams and food junctions, which are all styled the same - clinically boring.
A look at some of the stalls up close

Chingay is being telecast live on TV now. The usual splattering of colours, music and floats. Only this year, the audience has to pay for seats. And we have some post-65 MPs trying to do hip hop. Oh well, to each his own. Go ahead and dance, if it makes u happy.
