The Days Ahead

The joy seems short-lived. The yellow slip of 'forecast' seems eerily accurate - that this year would be a period of SUPER LOW at work. May the tide turn soon so that a marathon can be run, and not a sprint. Turn, before one forgets how to smile.

These past few weekends, the stove had been kept busy. It probably is a conscious attempt to hide within crabby hole, away from external complexities, hence the motivation to dish up homely meals of pasta (with mushrooms, capsicum, chicken), fish (with garlic, ginger and oyster sauce), snow peas (with carrots, mushrooms and baby corn), herbal soup (with chinese herbs and lean meat).. soul food.

Couple of days ago, right smack in the face of spiralling inflation, I swiped a thousand over dollars off my credit. Got myself a new pair of contact lens (the old ones are by now yellowish and I am convinced that is part of the reason for the recent spate of eye infections) and a new pair of spectacles (ok, I must admit this latter 'asset' is more of a 'want' rather than a 'need', but I promise to wear more of it to work once they are ready and spare my eyes off lens whenever possible).

At the rate food (raw/cooked) prices are increasing, and with our nation's bosses speaking ever so publicly about the impending recession.. one must be ready to tighten the purse-strings. I am no spendthrift, but I believe in the occasional indulgence that work wonders for the battled/tired soul. I worry for the underprivileged stratum. Tighten the belts, turbulent days ahead.

The new tagline - Spend Less, Save More.
