Drying that hair

The hair dryer exploded on me.

There was the unmistakable smell of rubber burning, the unmistakable sound of fuse sizzling and the unmistakable sight of sparks flying out of the dryer in big showers. Freak!

The whole episode lasted barely 5 seconds (up to the moment when I switched off the socket power) but the side of my right palm was already covered with soot. After washing it off, what's left was a sore red piece with an elevated blister. Ouch...

It's been 4 days since the accident, and the blister's now a hardend raised bump. I got a new hair dryer - Panasonic instead of the one that kamikazed - Philips. The salesperson said the former's more reliable as the parts are assembled in Thailand compared to the latter which is now made in China... Oh well, as long as it won't explode in my hand, or burn off my hair. *Shudder*

You take care of your hair dryer.

eh... if you can smell the chao da smell, it may be time to bury your dryer. i had that a few days before the explosion... it might have been a warning sign, to tell us that the internal circuitry is going/has gone bonkus or something. =P

and yah, another gd buddy of mine just told me that she never on her dryer to max power too! but i have always been doing that, coz i like the strong 'wind power' and the fact that my hair dries super fast with the highest power. But now... i'd follow you both, try to use a lower power whenever i can. Don't want another freak incident. =P
