Happi National Dae!
What a rainy start to a middle-aged nation's bday. 41 bloody long years fraught with challenges & triumps, this small island's one hot chilli padi. Way to go. =) Yeah, of course I'm proud to be S'porean, just that I'm also human and human is greedy-complainy-lazy-sceptical-rude-ungrateful-critical-materialistic-cowardly-pessimistic-egoistic at different times and to varying extents, so there would surely be occasions when laments and critiques flood the soundwaves, but nation-loving souls we are deep down there. U've just got to believe.
Update from the sick bed:
Recap - Mon morning, fever returned with vengance, likely due to poor night's sleep. Made decision to follow Zhang Hui Mei's song lyrics. Saw doc again. Silly him gave me only a day's MC despite my obvious "ban(4) tiao(2) ming(4)" after fighting bug for past 4 days. He prescribed strong, greenish, plastic-ky, bullet-shaped antibiotics for the enlarged, pus-y tonsils.
Tue - Institutions with kiddos were all celebrating National Day. Went back. Celebration was combined with sports day at my side. If I hadn't been sick, I'd have been made to run the 4 X 100 adults relay race on the slippery track. Have I told you before, running is one of the last things I've ever voluntarily do for anything? End of celebration. Talked to second-big boss. His body language suggested he couldn't really be bothered much. (Perhaps, I've criticized his way of doing some things just prior to telling him THE decision). Heck, I was outta there in ~20min. Next, to Big Boss, was in there for ~1hr 15min. And all the time, his rackets were waiting for him as he listened and suggested alternative ways of looking at/doing things. This is how an enlightened boss should be. At least, you got to act like you care (even though you may not really) - that's the minimal. Night - fever returned YET AGAIN with vengance. Angry tonsils flared bright red. Must have been the slightly toasted salmon sandwich earlier. Had to postpone a long awaited dvd-mahjong gathering. Went to bed a very sad soul.
Wed - today! Fever seemed to have subsided, tonsils' coaxed. I feel like eating dim sum. Then get some marking done. Hope the road to recovery can be smooth from here onwards. No more stock-market patterns pls. I want to eat my favorite crabs soon.
Happi National Dae. May the fireworks display be spectacular tonight. It's something truly, uniquely singaporean, isn't it?
GET WELL SOON!!! Then we'll go visit Shea and her babe ya?
