The Art of Self-Delusion

How many times have we tried to convince ourselves that:

- we still have time for a 5min snuggle in bed... when the alarm clock has howled till hoarse, & we are way late for work?

- we are still young & can afford to stay up late... when we'd spend the next few days recuperating & smoothing out those big black eye-bags?

- we can still wait for another 2 more years before launching an all-out search for life partners... when we are really, already way past our "sell-by" date?

- we still have time for a slow mirror check... when our friends are already impatiently waiting & cursing at some shopping mall?

- our parents are going to be with us for many more years... when they are already old, weak & emotionally spent?

- our bodies are as fit as before... when we pant like derelict dogs after a mere 200m jog?

- we are mature, experienced and responsible adults... when we don't even know how to treat our bodies well, & continue to hasten death by suffocating our lungs with black sticky tar, and drowning our livers with toxic alcohol?

- ...

- ...

The Art of Self-Delusion. We are all experts.

remember one wise man's belief of "no matter who u are, how you do, what u achieved..etc...it doesn't matter in the end"?

an escapism act? probably so.. so many occasions in our lives that we think of this and that, trying to know the meaning of this and that, constantly thinking and worrying over our decisions, saddened by how others think of us..etc but upon looking back, how many of those decisions or things that we had a tough time thinking over did really affect our lives thereafter, how many of those "so-called" self discovered meaning really had in impact on our lives? There are probably a handful. well, based on the 80/20 rule, these handful may not be worth the time, pain n effort for the misery it has probably inflicted on us.

sometimes, i really wonder how "healthy" it is to look at things this way with all these thoughts but then again, will it really matter in the end even if i continue to think this way?..

the powers of this amazing theory is providing me the answer once again...and that itself is probably a self discovered meaning of life.. at least for the moment.. haha

life is short, youth is limited. be happy, let go and pampered yourself whenever you can.

haha. indeed... does it all matter in the end??

as another wise man has said "we come to this world with nothing on us, we will leave bringing nothing with us".

Yeah... then again, why bother even to come by at all at first?
