Half Day

I woke up at 3.30am today, and while 90% of the island's population remained deep in sweet slumber, drove my dad and 2 other uncles to our world-class 'fishball tower' at the eastern tip of island, for their budget flight out to up-and-coming, big brother China. Had a piping hot Mac breakfast on a semi-awakened stomach, before driving back to catch up on precious zzz on an equally precious half work-day. Typing this while still in my PJs, munching yummy cereals drenched in healthy low fat milk. Chinese pop songs are playing in the background, and today's newspapers are but an arm's length away from me. Another 1.5hrs of blissful time-out before I return to fight all that needs to be subdued. Thank Buddha for half-days.

A Whimsical Entry

I started this blog in 2005, after mama left for a better place. And I was just looking at the no. of posts put up over the years.

A pretty consistent ~150 entries for the first 3 years, then a dramatic drop to 1/3 the total no. of annual posts in 2008, and then a further reduction of abt 30% last year. And I thought, there must be a good reason why. And so began this whimsical entry, as I ponder aloud.

Hmmm... 2008, a year where there was admittedly much agony at work. A classic case of conflicting values, beliefs, inclinations, priorities and goals. A year of transitions, realisations and, finally, decisions. A heavy year. And understandably so, the urge to post and share was greatly dwarfed by the need to hide in a quiet corner and unclutter the mind. The writing bug was thrashed, hands-down.

2009. A new beginning, in more ways than one. A good fresh start. More grounded, more at peace with oneself, and more at peace with others. New colleagues, new challenges, and new work tasks. New partner, and new directions for the future. Family relations remained strong, and some grew even stronger. A stable year. And understandably so, with fewer upheavals and a re-focused mind, the need to angst out aloud was diminished several folds. The writing bug went into seasonal hibernation.

2010. Moving into a new decade. Into my 2nd and final year of posting. I look forward to completing what had been started. It will continue to be a time to learn and grow. There will surely be moments of frustrations and relief. I look forward to nurturing bonds forged, both at work and on a personal front. And excitedly count down to a new phase ahead, as this year works its way to the next. The no. of entries? We'd see how it turns out. Afterall, as gahmen service always says, it has never been a numbers game. =)

May 2010 be a smooth, fruitful, peaceful and healthy one for all of us.
